Corrosion resistance – an outstanding property of aluminium

Mai 30th, 2010 | By ALUMINIUM in Material | 1 Comment »

The natural protective action of aluminium, which can be enhanced by alloys and special surface treatment, makes it resistant to environmental influences and aggressive media. Its benefits are exploited in shipbuilding and rolling stock construction and by the manufacturers of transportation equipment and containers. The corrosion resistance helps to retain the value and properties of goods. The durability and lightness of the material, combined with the wide range of decorative design possibilities, make aluminium a favoured material in façade construction.

Conductivity – an outstanding property of aluminium

Mai 21st, 2010 | By ALUMINIUM in Material | No Comments »

Aluminium is an excellent conductor of electricity and heat. The good conductivity of aluminium combined with its low weight and high degree of corrosion resistance make it the material of choice for overhead conductors and contact rails. In electronics, too, there are many uses for aluminium. As an exceptionally good thermal conductor, aluminium is indispensable in many applications from large-scale plants down to micro-applications, in many areas including refrigeration and solar technology.
